When in Rome

Braden and I started our Italy trip in Rome and it was so dreamy! I'm so glad that we got to experience this beautiful city together. We were only there for two days, so we packed in as much as we could. The pictures highlight some of our favorite moments in Rome; our Airbnb Colosseum tour, the Rome Temple, an early-morning tour of Vatican City, lots of walking, and many fountains, sculptures, ruins, and incredible sights along the way.

I loved all the greenery, ivy, and architecture in Rome! It was so cool to walk down the street and all the sudden see the Colosseum and other old architecture mixed into the city. Rome is so full of history! One of my favorite moments was walking into the square with the Trevi Fountain and seeing it for the first time. It was even better than I imagined! After having an amazing pasta dish that night (one of our favorite meals), we went back to the Trevi Fountain after dark to see it lit up, and to toss our coins in. (See video below)

On Sunday we ventured to the Rome Temple which is quite a ways outside the city. We took multiple buses and finally got there right in time for church. After church we walked the temple grounds and saw the visitor's center. It was all very beautiful and peaceful. I especially loved the stained glass mural and all of the symbolism behind it. Apparently the bus schedule is different on Sundays, because we waited more than an hour for a bus to pass by and take us back!

Vatican City was also a highlight because I got to experience many of the artworks I learned about in Art History like Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel, The School of Athens painting, and St. Peter's Basilica with all its treasures. It was amazing to experience each of these in person.

I loved holding Braden's hand and walking the streets, taking it all in. Rome gets an A+ for clean, free, water (thanks to the aqueducts)! We appreciated the free water since it was blazing hot the days we were there!
