Happiest of birthdays to the man who always makes Happiest of birthdays to the man who always makes us feel safe, loved, heard, and important. Will, Ollie, and I are forever grateful for you @watkinsbraden ❤️ 25 looks good on you 😍 #hbd
Braden and I have a little book club and we’re c Braden and I have a little book club and we’re currently reading “White Fragility” by Robin Diangelo in an effort to educate ourselves and learn how to better understand and advocate for POC 😊

I just wanted to share a quote that stood out to me: “Prejudice is foundational to understanding white fragility because suggesting that white people have racial prejudice is perceived as saying that we are bad and should be ashamed. We then feel the need to defend our character rather than explore the inevitable racial prejudices we have absorbed so that we might change them.”

As I read this book, I’m working on understanding the racial inequality that still exists today. I’m also working on exploring the racial prejudices I’ve absorbed so that I can actively work on changing them, instead of ignoring them to protect my whiteness.

If any of you have read White Fragility (or other books) I’d love to hear what you’ve learned!
